Joël Pommerat`s touching Parisian hit piece presents 18 stories about the impossibility of love: In one Scene series inspired by Chekhov, Ingmar Bergman and Schnitzler meets the prostitute a priest, the secretary a boss or the babysitter a childless couple. The sparkling miniatures play in the transit area of human relationships: a groom must confess at the wedding to having kissed all the present sisters of the bride before, and a teacher tries to explain disturbed parents his supposedly innocent love to their little son.
The great futility is the prerequisite for all the happenings in this piece: The 24 men and 28 women who meet here love each other or have loved each other or love someone else or have stopped loving. In precise dialogues, Pommerat shows people failing in love - and in an amusing way demonstrates an actually deathly sad thesis: a fulfilled love relationship (especially between a man and a woman) is about as likely as a reunification of North and South Korea. Where: is completely excluded, finally, not at some point, with a bit of luck.
