What happens when the grandson of a musician legend realizes that in his genes the music gene and the Oberkrainer gene come together? Saso Avsenik (pronounced `Sascho` in German) is the grandson of the great Slavko Avsenik. Under his leadership, seven young musicians set out in 2009 in Begunje, the birthplace of Upper Carnival music in Slovenia, to pursue their musical passion for Oberkrainer music and to continue the tradition of this captivating musical genre. It was practiced incredibly and searched for suitable songs. The debut album of the musical heirs of the original Oberkrainer was published exactly to the 80th birthday of Opa Slavko!
Saso inherited the typical `Avsenik` posture in accordion playing and he is especially proud of the energetic support of his family: besides Grandpa Slavko, this is also Uncle Vilko.
The young group, which celebrated its 5th stage anniversary in 2014, presents itself as sympathetic, carefree and authentic. A busy schedule and a growing fan base prove that the combination of tradition and youthfulness, coupled with an incredible amount of musicality, is well received by the audience!
