Ballet makes its grand return to the Arena di Verona. After a 34-year wait, a new production of the most famous love story of all time is on its way. Romeo and Juliet lives again in “fair Verona”, from the verses of Shakespeare to the stage, with Prokofiev’s immortal music.

Plot:
ACT I
In fair Verona, the Montague and Capulet families are locked in conflict. Romeo Montague, pining for an unrequited love, attends a Capulet ball in disguise. There he meets Juliet, daughter of the Capulets: the two fall in love at first sight. Meanwhile, tensions between the two families escalate.
ACT II
Romeo and Juliet declare their love for one another and marry in secret with the help of Friar Laurence. Shortly afterwards, a quarrel between Mercutio (Romeo’s friend) and Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin) leads to tragedy: Mercutio dies, and Romeo kills Tybalt in revenge. Romeo is then banished.
ACT III
Juliet is officially betrothed to Paris, but she refuses him. Friar Laurence proposes a plan: to drink a potion that will make her appear dead in order to avoid the marriage. Romeo, however, does not receive the message explaining the plan.
ACT IV
Believing Juliet to be dead, Romeo goes to the tomb and poisons himself. Juliet awakens and, seeing Romeo lifeless, kills herself. The tragedy leads to a reconciliation between the two families
