Divine music
Kian Soltani has been well known to Konzerthaus audiences for ten years thanks to numerous performances. The programme includes two cello concertos by an Italian virtuoso from the 18th century whose work has only begun to attract greater interest in recent decades: Luigi Boccherini. In 1783, the travelling music writer Charles Burney counted him among the greatest masters who ever composed for violin and cello and praised his style, which was both bold and elegant. »If God [...] wanted to hear music Himself, He would undoubtedly choose Boccherini's works«, wrote contemporary Jean-Baptiste Cartier. The concert will be complemented by core repertoire from the Camerata Salzburg – with two early symphonies by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
