Mozart - Requiem in re minore K. 626
27.03.2027 | 20:30 | Chiesa All Saints (anglican Church)
The Requiem was commissioned from Mozart by an unknown person in the summer of 1791, while he was busy composing the singspiel The Magic Flute , based on a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. Upon accepting the commission, he enthusiastically began composing the work but was never able to complete it; in fact, he died just a few months later, on the very day he finished the “Confutatis maledictis,” December 5, 1791. His wife entrusted the completion of the work to Franz Xaver Sussmayr, a student and friend of Mozart’s.
