Lukas Sternath – the name of this young Viennese pianist is on everyone's lips internationally. Audiences are captivated by his brilliant playing, critics praise his virtuosity as well as the depth and distinctive character of his interpretations, and orchestras such as the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic have welcomed him into their ranks of soloists. Lukas Sternath has been a regular guest at the Musikverein since his piano recital debut almost three years ago, and in the 2025/26 season, he will present his own concert series as an “Artist in Focus.“ At the start of the season, he performed Rachmaninoff's Fourth Piano Concerto with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and he will subsequently present a piano recital, perform as a song accompanist, and – in February – showcase his passion for chamber music. The German violinist Veronika Eberle and the Salzburg cellist Julia Hagen, also currently a focus artist of the Musikverein, are his partners in piano trios by Brahms, Shostakovich and Schubert.
